Flange Identification and Tracking Procedure
Before each job the lead technician should acquire enough Flange Identification Tags from inventory control and Job Data Sheets for the job as well as a spool of 24 AWG Stainless Steel Wire which meets ASTM A555 and ASTM A580 standards, and a fine tip black sharpie marker.
Each Flange should be torqued / tensioned to the customer specifications using standard Bolttech Procedures.
After completion of the flange, all information including the customer supplied Flange ID Number should be filled out on the Flange Identification Tag with the fine tip black sharpie marker and the Job Data Sheet. Any relevant information that is not specifically called for on the Flange Identification Tag or Job Data Sheet should be listed in the Notes / Comments section of the Job Data Sheet; such as if a 24 hour pass is required including date and time, etc.

The Flange Identification Tag should be attached using the supplied Stainless Steel Wire. The Tag should be attached to the 12, 3, 6, or 9 O’clock Position of the flange, whichever the technician deems most visible. The tag should be attached around the face of the nut resting against the flange and the wire should be twisted enough times to secure the tag (around 10 turns).
All completed Job Data Sheets are to be brought back to the office and checked over by management / office personnel before being scanned into the system and saved onto the J:/ Drive under the Flange Tracking folder. The file should be named with the flange identification tag serial number and saved within a new folder created for the specific job number.
Example: The Flange data sheet for a flange tagged with tag serial number 0178, during job # 2007-1245 will be saved as file name: 0178 in the directory J:\Flange Tracking\07-1245.
This will need to be done for each and every Job Data Sheet. The original Job Data Sheet should then be returned to the customer after it is processed.
